Rise Against Hunger India envisions a world without hunger. Towards this, Rise Against Hunger India undertakes programs and projects through its four pathways: Nourishing Lives, Community Empowerment, Emergency Response and Growing the Movement. It also runs behaviour change campaigns to promote food & nutrition awareness, healthy eating habits & conscious consumption among individuals.
 
Functional summary:
The Communication Officer will play a pivotal role in connecting Rise Against Hunger India with the external world. The primary responsibility of the job is to promote the organization’s vision, mission, strategies, and activities through various channels, engaging a wider audience in our hunger action program. The position will address all communication needs, manage social media, build external relationships, and uphold the organizational brand and reputation.
 
Areas of responsibility:
 
1.      Content Creation and Distribution:
  • Write, edit, and disseminate content, including:
  1. Social media posts (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn)
  2. Website content
  3. Press releases,
  4. Annual/quarterly reports, newsletters, campaign mailers
  5. Speeches, talking points,
  6. PR & marketing material
  • Collect pictures, success stories & case studies by visiting and interacting with project teams and field partners.
2.      Develop & refine key messages:
  • Sharpen organizational messaging and language to communicate organization’s core mission and value proposition.
  • Communicate the organization’s activities, products, and services effectively.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging across different channels.
3.      Response Management:
  • Respond to queries and comments from external audience received through social media platforms, websites, and other channels.
  • Handle conflicts/concerns as they arise and escalate to management when necessary.
4.      Media Relations:
  • Identify opportunities for media collaboration and promotion.
  • Arrange interviews and act as a point person for the organization.
  • Maintain relationships with journalists and update the media database.
5.      Brand Enhancement:
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the organization’s reputation.
  • Coordinate publicity events as needed.
  • Ensure brand compliance in internal and external communications including emails, reports, documentation across the organization.
6.      Analytics and Metrics:
  • Develop performance metrics to track engagement/traffic of social media, website, and other communication channels.
  • Collect and analyze relevant data to measure the impact of communication efforts.
  • Maintain records of media coverage.
7.      Design and Publishing:
  • Creative designing of materials (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Production support on audio/video documentation
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in a communications role.
  • Proficiency in creative software systems (such as Adobe Photoshop), content management systems, and social media platforms.
